Letter from Missionary 1-3-12
Hey! so the biggest news this week was that I got transferred. My new companion was actually in my district at the MTC. He is a good elder, I look forward to the work I can do here.
For a spiritual thought this week I just wanted to mention an experience I had after I got the transfer information. I was told that I was going to a new area with an elder I didn’t know. I was not necessarily happy or sad at that news, just anxious to do what the Lord wanted me to do, so I prayed and asked him what I was supposed to learn from the new experience. One answer I got was that I was supposed to learn all I can from him. That I was not to go into it showing him what I know but to learn all that I can from him, to humble myself and to truly learn all that I can. Then I learned a life lesson, that that is what life is about, learning all you can from everyone. Every situation you are in, there are many things you can learn, many ways you can grow, no matter what the situation or people around you are. I am so glad I can learn from so many people. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

What I find most amazing about his email is not that he is to learn all he can from his new companion, but that he already got the answer he was looking for about what he is to learn from this new experience! I’ve thought you have to go through the trial, or change, pray while you’re doing it and see if you can get an answer about what you are supposed to gain from it.
But here he is, asking the question and getting the answer before the change has even happened! But, I’m not too surprised. The way he has been learning, and growing closer to the Lord, of course he would get the answer so soon!
Now I have something I’ve learned, and something more I can work towards! Part of the Desire Higher road for sure!
